Botanicals

Whether it’s the wonderful trees in Central Park, landscaped by Frederick Olmsted, or the jungle in Belize or the Peten rainforest, or the potted plants on my windowsills, plant motifs have always been a significant motif In my art.

Plants lend themselves to line drawing, in black & white. Their curvilinear forms are sensual, graceful and have an internal rhythm. In color, non flowering plants show a wide range of shades of green. Fungi exhibit radial symmetry. Flowers bloom in all the colors of the rainbow. The intricate ecology of the jungle & the temperate forest mimic the layered complexities of the creative mind.

The shape of leaves, flower petals, the graceful lines of the stem, the rugose texture of the tree trunk is nature at its finest, and design-wise the antithesis of computer generated art.
